25 Years of Leading the Way in Engendering Private Sector Participation
Twenty five years ago, the National Agricultural and Fishery Council was created by virtue of Executive Order 116 as an advisory body of the Department of Agriculture and a forum for consultative discussions within the agriculture and fisheries sector. It also facilitated the organization of Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs) at every local administrative level, as well as sectoral committees at the national level or the NSCs.

NAFC Quarterly showcased in gov’t publication, ‘Ugnay’
The National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC) official newsletter, the NAFC Quarterly, has been included among the 500 government publications compiled into a book by the Bureau of Communications Services (BCS) of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) titled “Ugnay: Connecting with the People” which was launched last January 31, 2013 at the National Library of the Philippines in Manila.
 

NAFC showcases 4 US PL480 livestock projects at AgriLink 2012
The National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC), in collaboration with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and National Dairy Authority (NDA), showcased four major livestock projects of the of the Department of Agriculture (DA) funded under the United States Public Law 480 (US PL480) Title I Program during the 2012 AgriLink, FoodLink and AquaLink held by the Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development Inc. (FRLD) from October 4 to 6, 2012 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

The Government of Japan through its Ambassador, His Excellency Toshinao Urabe approved the Upgrading of Pesticide Residue Laboratories project of the Bureau of Plant Industry. The good news was contained in the letter dated March 7, 2012 authorizing the use of the proceeds generated from the Japanese Grant Assistance for the Food Security Project for Underprivileged Farmers, also known as the 2KR Program, being managed by the National Agricultural and Fishery Council.

Employees of the National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC) can now easily avail low-priced but safe and good quality medicines as an in-house pharmacy, called the Botika ng Manggagawa, was recently unveiled by the NAFC Employees’ Association (NAFCEA).

Region 6 revisits concepts of AFC operations through training

AKBay program benefits 76 farmers in Catanduanes
Launched in Virac, Catanduanes last June 15, the AKBay (Agrikultura, Kaagapay ng Bayang Pinoy) Program benefited 76 farmers, giving them financial assistance to purchase inputs for their approved micro-livelihood projects.

PRPC Signs MOA with IRRI, resolution to change name
The ExeCom of the Philippine Rice Postproduction Consortium (PRPC) convened at the National Agricultural and Fishery Council’s (NAFC) Apacible Conference Room this June as presided by Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala. The meeting was highlighted by the signing of Memorandum of Agreement on collaborative activities between PRPC and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI); and, the resolution changing the name of PRPC to Philippine Grains Postproduction Consortium (PGPC).
